Q:
I want to become a supplier to General Motors through the Supplier Diversity Program. Where do I begin?
A:
The first step in becoming a supplier to GM is to submit your company's information into the Supplier Registration form.
Q:
What are the requirements to be considered as a new diverse supplier?
A:
Q:
Why use the Supplier Registration link instead of contacting the buyer or a member of the Supplier Diversity team?
A:
Our registration was designed by GM’s Supplier Diversity team in conjunction with members of the Purchasing organization. The registration form provides all of the necessary information needed in order to determine if there may be a matching opportunity for your company.
Q:
What happens to my new supplier registration once it has been submitted?
A:
Completed registrations are reviewed and forwarded to the applicable function, depending on the product or service of the supplier. While your firm may have a capable skillset, there may be contractual obligations, sourcing strategies, etcetra, that may postpone bidding opportunities at the current time. The supplier will receive a response on whether there is a need for their product or service within 45 days.
Q:
When should I expect a response?
A:
Please allow at least 45 days from the time the registration is downloaded for your company's information to reach the appropriate buyer and receive their feedback.
Q:
What do I do if 45 days pass and I have not heard from anyone?
A:
Please be patient. We make every effort to respond to all inquiries. It is extremely important to include an email address in your initial registration. If one is not included, please send an e-mail to supplierdiversity@gm.com as a follow-up.
Q:
What types of companies are included in your Supplier Diversity Program?
A:
The GM Supplier Diversity Program recognizes certified U.S. and Canadian diverse suppliers (Black, Asian-Indian, Asian-Pacific, Hispanic, Native American, and Canadian Aboriginals), women-owned (minority and non-minority), LGBTQ Enterprises, Veteran-Owned, Disability-Owned Business Enterprises, and small business firms. All products and services relevant to our business of certified diverse suppliers are considered.
